Settling In

We’re settled back in, everything is put away, and the “veranda” is set up.  The makeshift sunshade at the rear is an absolute necessity since our site faces north.  The morning sun coming straight across the patio is brutal, so I rigged a brown tarp which from the front doesn’t look too bad.  The back side looks kind of rough, but since we have no neighbors behind us, I wasn’t too concerned.  The result means we can sit outside with our coffee in the morning in complete comfort.

We took the Roadmaster tow bar off the front of the Honda CR-V.  We’re going to stay parked for the rest of the year and do our travelling in the Honda, so there was no need for that extra 60-70 pounds hanging off the front end.  Removing it gave us an extra foot or so of patio space as well.  Since Nell’s accident, there’s been a tendency to give that tow bar a wide berth.  In case you missed it, she walked around the front of the car, was distracted, and tripped over the tow bar.  A broken femur, a titanium rod, recovery using a wheelchair, walker and now a cane has made us a bit more aware of tripping hazards.  She’s recovering extremely well, by the way.

advanced RV15I’ve spent some time going through a couple of the outside storage compartments, getting things back where I can find them.  The cold winter, even in Rockport (TX) kept me from doing much outside, and then we thought we were going for a quick sale, so I didn’t bother.  Now, since it appears we’re going to stay in the Bounder for a while, I decided it was time to straighten up the “garage”.  This still looks pretty messy, but there is at least some order to it.  There are plastic bins on the upper shelf as well, behind the spray cans and other stuff.

When we moved back from our oldest daughter’s house, we just kind of threw things inside.  We spent that night in the MH, then drove to Austin to spend a few days with our youngest daughter and her family.  Getting things put back into place was a big job, but now everything is in its place and we can settle down for a while.

Nice to see you back ‘home’. Can never do enough tidying-up around the RV. Lookin’ good.
