Cosmetic Upgrades

April 29, 2013

Rockport, Texas

That old yellow refrigerator vent has been bugging us for quite a while.  That’s it just above the curve in the side decal.  Once we had the RV seriously washed and waxed, it looked even worse.  Those things come in different sizes, so I removed it and took it to the local RV dealer.

This simple replacement changed the outside appearance dramatically.  Not only is it a cleaner look, but it took years off the motorhome’s age.  These vents are white plastic, and apparently just turn yellow with age.  It was a $40 item, and it’s held in by 16 screws.  The guy at the RV place gave me a couple of partial rolls of lap sealer, and I was in business.

This was the old outside vent for the hood over the stove inside.  It was cracked and discolored from age.  We picked up one of these a week or so ago, and I replaced it today as well.

Another simple change that cleans up the outside appearance.  Some of the screws are a little rusty, but I was racing the weather.

We’re getting close to having everything done before we hit the road.  We’ve still got a small drip in the shower faucet assembly which isn’t going to be as easy as I initially thought.  I’ve got a little more research to do, and probably another trip to the RV dealer.  But from the outside, we’re looking good.

Those vent changes really do make a difference; and removes the aged look. Good job! I’m awaiting a few items from the factory for some fixes on my rig before hitting the road.
