On The Move

February 21, 2012

We’ll be moving to Houston this weekend.

Nell’s company has asked her to help out in their Houston office, so it looks like we’ll be spending her remaining six weeks until retirement at an RV Park just north of Houston.

I’m ready for a change of surroundings anyway.  The RV Park appears to have a couple of small lakes on the property, which will be a nice change.

Nell will be off work tomorrow, so we can get a few things finished up and get the RV interior put back together and ready to travel.  It’s about a 4 to 4 1/2 hour drive to our destination, but since the longest I’ve spent behind the wheel of this rig is 1 1/2 hours, we’re going to break the trip into two parts.  We’ll head out of here mid-afternoon Friday, ahead of outgoing weekend traffic we hope, stop halfway overnight, then drive on in on Saturday morning.  That should make it an easy trip, and allow us to get settled in with plenty of weekend left.

When Nell retires, we plan on heading straight to Galveston for at least a week for her to decompress.  Since Conroe is only 90 miles from there, it will give us a chance to make a weekend day trip to check out some places to stay.

For now, I’ve got to get some things done over the next couple of days!

A fortunate turn of events. Taking a longer trip in the rig will be a good driving experience. This is a chance to adjust to a different park; and it sounds like a nice place. It also puts you closer to your first full-timing destination. Hope you enjoy the move.
